CLDS™ Cohort 1: Forging the Path for Learning & Development Excellence

The Philippine HR Institute (PHRI)™ proudly celebrates the successful completion of the Certified Learning & Development Specialist (CLDS)™ Cohort 1 Lecture on October 24, 2026. The comprehensive learning sessions were held for four Saturdays, dates October 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026. The program continues to advance PHRI’s mission to develop competent, ethical, and forward-thinking HR professionals equipped to navigate the evolving world of work.

Cohort 1 that consists of 13 participants, brought together individuals from different industries and professional backgrounds, including HR associates, assistants, administrators, senior managers, coordinators, statisticians, and instructional designers. This diversity enriched discussions and fostered meaningful exchanges of experiences and perspectives throughout the program.

The learning journey began with Ms. Kath Maniti’s session on Introduction to Learning and Development, where participants were introduced to the fundamentals of Learning and Development (L&D) and its significance in organizational growth. She provided a comprehensive overview of the roles and responsibilities of an L&D practitioner, highlighting their contribution to employee performance and business success. Through real-world examples and practical insights, attendees gained a deeper understanding of how L&D initiatives support both individual and organizational development.

The second Saturday featured Dr. Romel de Guia’s discussion on Adult Learning Principles. During this session, Dr. de Guia explored the theories and concepts that underpin adult learning, helping participants understand how adults acquire, retain, and apply new knowledge and skills. He also emphasized the importance of aligning learning strategies with adult learners’ needs, experiences, and motivations to create more effective training programs.

The third session was led by Mr. Bryan Bernabe, who discussed Effective Training Delivery. He shared practical techniques and best practices for conducting engaging and impactful training sessions that promote active participation and knowledge retention. Participants learned various methods for managing classroom dynamics, facilitating discussions, and delivering content in a manner that maximizes learning outcomes and training effectiveness.

Then the program concluded with Dr. Markrinello Sarical’s session on Learning Assessment and Evaluation. He discussed the importance of measuring learning outcomes to determine whether training objectives have been successfully achieved. The session covered various assessment and evaluation methods that can be used before, during, and after training programs to measure effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and support continuous learning development.

Throughout the four-week program, this cohort showed a strong sense of commitment, active engagement, and a genuine passion for continuous learning. Their enthusiasm and participation reflect the growing importance of L&D education and professional development in today’s rapidly changing work environment.

PHRI™ congratulates the CLDS™ Cohort 1 and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact they will foster with their organizations and communities.
