Upcoming Minimum Wage Review Cycle in NCR: Government Reinforces Commitment to Fair and Sustainable Pay

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), together with the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), has announced that the next minimum wage review cycle in the National Capital Region (NCR) will commence in May 2026. This follows the completion of the 2025–2026 cycle and is part of the government’s continuing effort to ensure timely wage adjustments that reflect both local and global economic realities.

This initiative is aligned with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who has emphasized the importance of conducting wage reviews on schedule to safeguard the welfare of Filipino workers. The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards will carefully consider international developments, including the ongoing situation in the Middle East and its impact on global commodity prices. At the same time, they will closely monitor socioeconomic conditions across the country to ensure that wage decisions remain responsive to the needs of both employees and employers.

The upcoming review underscores the government’s commitment to fair, balanced, and sustainable wage adjustments. By strengthening the link between productivity and equitable pay, the process aims to support the competitiveness of businesses while ensuring that workers receive compensation that reflects the rising cost of living and the value of their contributions.

For HR leaders and practitioners, this development highlights the importance of proactive workforce planning and compensation management. Organizations are encouraged to stay informed about wage policy updates, assess the potential impact on their operations, and prepare strategies that balance compliance with employee engagement and retention.

As the voice of the HR profession in the Philippines, PHRI™ continues to support initiatives that promote equitable labor practices and sustainable organizational growth. We encourage our members and partners to remain engaged in these discussions and to leverage wage review outcomes in shaping policies that strengthen both people and performance.
